The
Design.
Designed by Ian Proctor the 11 foot Gull Spirit is based on the
original bard-chine plywood Gull. The robust GRP Gull Spirit has a
redesigned modern layout with built in buoyancy, giving the dinghy a
greater appeal for all-round family cruising/racing, single-handed
sailing or sail-training purposes. She's a lightweight, well built
fuss-free boat providing hours o f enjoyment for gentle cruising and
safe club racing.
Development.
The Gull Spirit has been layed out as one
of
the easiest boats to rig and with
the added advantage of the
Gull Spirit Handbook it would be difficult for anyone to go wrong.
One of the best aspects
of the Spirit is the fact
that she's designed to be 'newcomer friendly'. Novices can buy the
basic boat and depending on whether they want to cruise or race (or
both), they can simply add on the accessories.
An important feature
of
the Gull Spirit is the way in
which the buoyancy is distributed throughout the boat, providing
safety and making the righting of
the boat safe, quick and easy.
There still remains sufficient space in the watertight aft locker,
which is securely fastened to accommodate a 2.212. 0 hp outboard
engine.
