The Next Generation
Forget the pressures of
everyday life. The stresses and strains. The daily grind to work.
Think instead
of countless hours cruising or racing aboard a modern classic - the
Wanderer Esprit.
Launched in 2006 and
based on the proven pedigree of lan Proctor's original design, the new
Esprit brings the much-loved Wanderer very much into the present day. And
whether you're sailing alone, with the family or alongside the
1,500-strong Wanderer community, she's the perfect companion for every
occasion.
In the hands of an
expert helm and crew, she delivers all the sensitivity and response you
could wish for. But she's equally caring and manageable for the
inexperienced - making her a firm favourite with sailing schools.
More than that, owning
an Esprit makes you part of the vibrant Wanderer Class Owners'
Association community. For the keen, one-design racer, she's ideal, being
the focal point of regular friendly events on and off the water. And
Esprit enthusiasts certainly know how to enjoy themselves - with cruising
rallies, club racing and national events the order of the day.
Where versatility meets
performance
So what is it that makes
this new generation of Wanderer so appealing?
Quite simply,
versatility and improved design. Keith Proctor and lan Porter have
combined to create this new take on the
original, bringing the
boat right up to date.
Boasting a flexible rig,
comprising main and jib with roller reefing and traditional or asymmetric
spinnaker, and tabernacle that makes mast erection simple, she's a true
all-rounder. Her slab reef means she's superb for single-handed cruising
and that asymmetric spinnaker gives her the ability to produce
turbo-charged performance for exhilarating sailing.
Take a look around the
boat, and you'll discover improvements everywhere. There's a larger
self-draining cockpit, spinnaker chute, optional thwart and large aft
stowage locker for picnics, sails and outboard. All of which makes
maintenance minimal, meaning you and your family have more time to enjoy
the boat herself.
Finally, to add extra
stability to an inherently stable design, you can opt for a lifting keel
that operates in the same way as the centerboard. Consisting of a
fiberglass board with lead shot ballast, and withdrawing into the
standard centerboard case, this makes the Esprit the only 14ft keelboat
available.
The low-cost -
lightweight trailer sailer
With the Wanderer
Esprit, life is always easy - even off the water. Easily towed by small
cars and launched by one person, there are no expensive mooring or marina
fees. In fact, she's as happy at your club or in your back garden - you
can even sleep aboard with a tent.
Safety first
The Wanderer has been
tested and assessed by the Royal Yachting Association and Recreational
Craft Inspector. It has been given Design Category "C" with a crew limit
of between 1 and 4, in accordance with ISO 12217-3.This category is
considered to render it suitable for use in waves up to 2.0m significant
height and a typical steady wind of Beaufort Force 6. She also offers
optional masthead buoyancy.
