H12 -2 – the ultimate flexible sailing package. The
H12 -2 can be sailed is a dinghy that can be sailed by a single,
double or three man crew, with a single, twin and three sail
combination. The third sail, the spinnaker, can be either
traditional (symmetric) or asymmetric (gennaker) spinnaker which
is introduced from the moulded in spinnaker chute. This gives
the most variation of possibilities for a sailing group to
forward training or a family to experience a wide range of
techniques and sail trimming.
The H12 -2 uses the same hull as the H12 which is a Rotomoulded
Polyethylene boat but unusually featuring the lifting
centreboard and rudder for ease of use in shallow waters. This
same hull is wide and deep aiding stability which with the self
draining cockpit empties the hull in a very fast and efficient
manner. The shape of the hull gives an exhilarating performance,
a smooth ride and nimble handling character to this brilliant
design.
With the possibility of the extra sail area sailing in stronger
breezes could result in the odd mistake which could lead to a
minor capsize. However the H12-2 is almost impossible to invert
due to its design and use of materials and so it is easy to
right by even light crews. The inclusion of righting lines, hand
holds and hull design make re-boarding the boat easy even from
the water.
The high open arched transom give an easy exit route should one
find that they are under an upturned hull.
